Turn a block of wood into a trophy. And a wonderful childhood memory.Turn a block of wood into a trophy. And a wonderful childhood memory.

Some people build their pinewood derby cars to win. Some folks build for the experience of creating something fun together. Others just want to build the craziest thing they can think of. Whatever category you fall into, there’s an award just for you. Build and bring your wooden automotive masterpiece to the racetrack at the YMCA basketball court to fulfill your need for speed. The Anopi Nation provides the block of wood, some axels, and wheels. You supply the paint and imagination.

There are categories and prizes for Most Original Design, Most Humorous, Best Indian Theme, Best Child Participation (remember, dads, this is really about the kids), and of course, Fastest Car. Each category has awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Each car must be built within a certain weight and fit within a certain size in order to be eligible to race in the competition. Here's the schedule and rules for building your pinewood car.
